Dr. Sotiris Gayialis holds a Ph.D. from the School of Mechanical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) since 2009, in the fields of Management Information Systems, Supply Chain and Business Process Management, and a diploma in Mechanical Engineering, also from NTUA, specializing in Industrial Management, since 1997.

He is currently a Teaching and Research Associate at NTUA. He has working experience as a business consultant since 1997 in the field of industrial management, and as a researcher at NTUA since 2001. He has participated in more than 60 research or applied projects as a Senior Researcher or Scientific Responsible and as a consultant, with expertise in ERP implementation projects, production and operations management, and business process management.

He teaches at NTUA since 2001 as an associate member of the Industrial Engineering Laboratory (IEL) and Sector of Industrial Management and Operational Research (SIMOR), and later as a faculty member since 2014. He teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels (Athens MBA) the courses: Production and Operations Management, Management Information Systems, Production Planning and Control, Operations Management and Plant Maintenance, and Supply Chain Management. In parallel, he is teaching Business Administration at Hellenic Open University since 2011, as an adjunct professor.

He has published more than 120 papers in scientific journals, chapters for books, and conference proceedings. He is a co-author of the book: Business Process Management: Organization, Reengineering, and Improvement. His published work has more than 1000 citations and he is a reviewer in many scientific journals. Sotiris' research interests, professional skills, and publications are related to the areas of Business Process Management, Enterprise Modelling, Management Information Systems, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, and Industrial Engineering. Recently he is researching the trends in enterprises' digital transformation, modern manufacturing systems, as well as applications of IoT, blockchain, process mining, simulation and data analytics.
